Day 11

Our last full day. We started our morning at a bright and early 7:30 eastern time departure. Honestly most people slept until we stopped, then got back on and slept some more. Lunch was in Columbus, Ohio where we had multiple different places we could go. Most tried somewhere new like Tim Horton's or White Castle. Then, back on the road. Again, many took this time to catch up on sleep. After another quick stop, we finally made it to Effingham, Illinois. Scattering ourselves for dinner, everyone enjoyed spending the last night with friends. Some bought foam swords and nerf guns from Walmart and had battles of epic proportions, others swam, and some of the girls did facials! Then, we had reflections where each person  shared their favorite part of CWF. We all agreed that meeting each other and the friendships we made were by far the best part. Each and everyone of us have made friendships that will last a lifetime and that is part of what made CWF so memorable. We will never forget this trip.

Day 10

Today we started the day off with our last meal at the National 4-H Center in Washington. We then boarded the bus headed for Gettysburg, and enjoyed an awesome two hour tour with our tour guide Mike. On our tour we got to see and learn about the battle of Gettysburg. There was a lot to see, as there was approximately 1,328 monuments and memorials. After our tour it was lunch time. Everyone enjoyed the local restaurants and stores. We had free time to shop and see the cemetery. Then we boarded the bus headed for Somerset, PA where we will be staying the night. We arrived just in time for dinner at the Eat n Park. :) Chase bought a miniature beach ball so everyone played tip ball on the way back to the hotel. We then enjoyed swimming and hanging out. As this trip is coming to an end, we are realizing we're going to miss each other.

Day 9

SLEEPING IN???? Yes, please! Breakfast was later this morning so we got to sleep in a little bit, which was much needed. Then, off we went to get Delegation Day started. Kenny (our awesome bus driver) took us to the National Mall where everyone scatter to enjoy their free day. The Smithsonian Museums were a big hit for our group as a whole, but each group did their own thing. Some went to the actual mall, others went to the Washington Monument, and some went to the Holocaust Museum and many other places. It was a blast being able to really explore the city and learning what city life is like. Speaking of city life, riding the metro and figuring out the busing system was terrifying. I'm glad we don't have to worry about any of that nonsense in Kansas.
Once we were back at the 4-H center, it was time for our goodbye with our Program Assistant, Katie. She was absolutely amazing and helped make this trip one for the books. Katie was so surprised by our gift for her that we did a group hug and almost fell over. Even though we had to say goodbye, we saw her at the talent show right afterwards. Kansas had two phenomenal acts in the show: Jonie Chapman and Doran Griffin. Doran stole hearts singing "Your Man" by Josh Turner. Jonie amazed us by clogging and man, her feet moved so fast! It was awesome! Then, we had the dance and Kansas were the best dancers.......or at least the most energetic! We all danced and enjoyed our last night at the center. Our chaperones even danced because we're that awesome! Our time in DC was definitely a memorable one, but we all are ready to be back in Kansas.
